A few details from me:

Cruises comfortably at 55mph
Up to 60WOT
Rev limiter at 65mph full tuck/drafting behind other vehicle

However, any 55+ riding takes a severe toll on fuel mileage. 68-73mpg if nearly all riding is 55+. When taking a different route to work with most riding between 45-55mph, I have been averaging 90-95mpg.

Mine rides at 60 mph tops now. Used to hit 65 and slam into the rev limiter. Not anymore though because I dropped my sliders down to 8g from 12g cause my acceleration is SO much better with those in.

I'd rather have a better acceleration with a top of 60...60 is pretty darn good for most roads.

FS, did you ever try 9 gram rollers or sliders? Are you running sliders or rollers now?

I had 9g in for a bit. Didn't like 'em as much as the 8g's. I always use sliders. The rollers that came with my Malossi didn't last too long till they got horrid flat spots.

I am 6' 2" 267 pounds. My Zuma has 88 miles on it so far, and it gets up to 50 mph very easily. I have had it up to 55 once, but I don't want to push it too much it since it's still in the break in period. I doubt it will ever take me beyond 60 mph. ... unless I lose a few pounds :)

I saw 60mph indicated straight & level today for the first time as I passed through 380 miles on my way home from a hundred mile run. I'm going to remove my GPs from my C3 tomorrow and put it on the Zuma and see what "The Rest of the Story" is! As our Beloved departed Bro. Paul Harvey would say! Gabe

I have a 100% stock bike with 1500 miles on it and I can't get it past 57 indicated. I'm 5'10" 170. Maybe if I tucked I could get it to 60, but I don't go there.

Still feel that 55-60 is a little too fast for small wheels, got on I-5 yesterday and found out going up a really steep stretch I hit just over 50 for about the mile it lasted, didn't feel bad but the scoot just isn't built for highway travel and thats that....... Read about the people that want to soup them up and think why? So, you can go 70, you can make a 50cc moped do that to, but why?

My sentiments exactly. To my thinking, if you want to go 70 mph on a scooter, buy one that is designed and built to run that fast. Buying one that is designed and built to go 45 or 55 mph, then spend all that money and time to mod it to go 70 just does not make sense to me. But, in all fairness, I am not into that. It's not my bag. I have more important things to do with what time I have left on this Earth and my money. To each his own!

Zuma 125 Top Speed Update

Postby Bill3865 » Mon Feb 01, 2010 1:40 am

Ok, here's a top speed update. My Zuma 125 is now broken in. Except for a Yamaha OEM windshield, this scooter is 100% stock, with no modifications of any kind. I weigh about 265 pounds, and my top speed on level ground measured with a Garmin eTrex Vista HCX GPS is 52.6 mph. At that speed the Zuma's speedometer reads 55 mph. I rode in a normal position, not bent over, tucked in, or any of that. If I want to go any faster than that, I'll take my car.

If you are measuring your speed with the stock speedo prepared to be lied too. A gps or other more reliable means will give you a truer answer.
I am hooking up a bicycle computer to mine so I get a couple of odometers and a clock along with a more accurate speedo.
I like to track mileage and other silly things
still in break in and my top on flat no tuck etc, with brief WOT is 52.2 GPS indicated the speedo said I was going 59 (yeah right)

GPS is the way to go...I used it for the Vino 125 and it was pretty darn accurate compared to the speedo. The Zuma 50 I had...not so accurate.

I GPSd my Zuma 125. It's off by like 2 mph. Steadily too all throughout the speedo.

So the BIG question...whats faster stock, Zuma125 or Vino125? I'd have to say the V125...I get mine to 60 no problem...stock.
