Finally got a chance to work on the scoot today, Lately my time, money and effort have been focused on my car project...

However, after having strange noises, leaks, and other goodies coming from the bike lately, I dug into it today.

Opened up the tranny for the first time, and discovered the "performance" kit that was installed by the dealer...

Hmm... It has a Bando Belt in it... 788 17 28, not sure what size that corresponds to with a Yamaha, but I think it could be the same as a jog 90 belt... width is currently at 16.25mm, I'll have to check and see if that's cause for a new one yet...

Pulled off the Vario, and found this... an aftermarket (probably cheapo) vario for a jog 90... I guess it uses the same 16mm crank spline as the CPI.

Opened it up to a real suprise, Only 3 rollers in it, of unknown weight... I think a new polini vario is in order...

On the Waterpump/stator side, I opened up the cover, and a bent chewed screw fell out! Not sure where it's from or how it got in there, but I'm glad it's not in there now... Also, there was a strange oil, dirt, water mix in the bottom of the case, which I think was what was leaking, not sure how it got in there... Cleaned everthing out. In the end, it started 2nd kick, and was riding around the block better than it has in a while... I think I'm going to go for a ride!

Geez. Good thing you opened it up and had a look around. So the whole vari is a Jog vari or just the back ramp you think?

I believe it's the whole thing. Suprisingly, I guess they use the same vario as the CPI...

I have seen some modded ones, they are just using Mina H parts, as it is the same motor. Only real differences are the crank splines, clutch size (can always be taken down to 107...), water pump bolt pattern is a little different, and the reedcage/intake flange is a little different as well.
