1999 50LC Derbi Predator ,leaking coolant into gear case

I guess the seal is bad because it's leaking in to the gear case cover, Where can I find a new seal, The bike has been setting for a while ,The way things are going ,I'm going to need this baby for transportation. Thanks Mike

Check our Downloads section for the 2000 manual...it should cover the liquid cooled "Spanish motor" and show you what seals could be leaking.
I have the same case,but the water valleys and pump and seals arent on there so I'm unfamiliar with water leaks on that motor.

did you mean the Belt side of the case was leaking?

Yes it is the beltside ,There is a small belt that drives the water pump inside the drive belt, thanks for the reply. Mike

I did a pump on a 2003 GP-1 with a Piaggio LC 50. You have to split the case to get at the impeller. I looked in the manual from, S.T.net, looks similar. I believe you will have to do the same. I did not do the crank bearings or seals. If I was to do it again, I would. I could not find a manual for the Piaggio engine. Looks like the seal is different. The impeller was plastic, on the Piaggio. take some pics. I would love to see them. The impeller broke on mine. If you do this repair. I would recommend crank bearings and seals, And a new belt for the pump. I had to make a puller to split the case. It was a long repair, definitely a all day job.

Thanks for the help from all,I now understand what I have to look forward to. I figured it couldn't be a simple fix to put a water pump repair kit on my Piaggio LC 50 engine . Where is the best place to get the parts. Thanks for the help, Mike

Are you sure you have the piaggio motor. I believe they did not start the piaggio's in the derbi,s till late 2001. does it have a one piece kick start or a 2 piece. look at this link to see which motor you have. It might be a different case in the Predator.

Yours looks different, than the kit I bought. The seals are different. { above photos } My son had 2002 Gpr 50 lc Derbi motor. the water pump is external. His pump was a 1 hour job. And looked different than either of these two. Had two seals
I have photos on ST, of the GP-1 pump replacement. Research your motor before you buy parts, They all look the same, but there are differences in the design. I also needed a puller to remove the Rotor on the GP-1.

Hope this Helps, Not trying to dis-wade you. Its just the job is different between the differing, 50cc LC Engine Models.

The gp1 waterpump is almost the same as the predator. Bearing and seal has gone bad is why it's leaking.
